waiting for the screams
the two year old just wails
or grunts loudly at unopportune times
like late nites without a sound barrier
and strumping up steam for a landing.
what i mean to say is, this year's
already off the charts for let's see
what can be stirred. you were weary of rest.
laying there on your bed, no purpose,
now you can work for your grandchildren. heh.
you lie next to him and poems swirl
you get up to write them down and there's
an already smoked cigarette in tray. the words
come out of the cosmos, land colorless outside
your reach. sweep up the pine needles, put away
the ribbons. you could try to regain the lostness
but yesterday is bundled up loosely, trundled away
with the fireworks. this is about tidying up.

the baby lies with mom and dad,
within mom, a burgeoning being
insistent. baby screams in joy
and frustration all night long. the schedule
has me mixed up. i must rise early. the schedule
has him mixed up, ten hours is not acheived.
the preteen lies on the couch, destroyed, i love
that couch, it was down filled, red courdoroy. 6 feet.
my cats have fucked the arms up, i never got a scratch
post. the once plump cushions worn flat
by her occupancy becuase the mom and dad won't
bring another mattress from storage and who
pays that anyway omg tonight we have the middle
only child, the willfull boss, throwing less shoes
and tantrums but eventually we got one out of him.
then he settled down. so it's full grandparent mode
where we run into the room and hide, with 30 rock
streaming on the prime. here are simpler days when viral lock downs
were a thing of the future and right wing gun toters believed
in the process. i wonder what will happen to normalcy
post inauguration. every body's mad, crowd sized mad.
but no one in my factory's throwing fists. when there is
work to do, there's no time for such non sense. you'd think
the powers would under fucking stand that by now.
you forgot to give us the SOMA, and you let the con man
show you up . your cupidity equals stupidity, you took your
own selves down.
